The Backstory

Hello! Welcome to this small community. If you're wondering what you're looking at and what is this whole thing about let me brief you in real quick.

What is it?

Blue Note Dispatch is a music recommendation service delivered to your mailbox every Monday.

Yes, I know - a newsletter in 2024 and no AI sounds impossibly boring, but in reality, email, is THE app that people use all the time. It's nice, clean, can be viewed on any device at any time and all the messages are archived. No need for another login or website to remember, perfect medium for all ages.

Name for the newsletter came from Blue Note records which released first album of a french music producer Ludovic Navarre aka St.Germain - that was my first experience with modern electronic music. Freshly imported CD from France and from a label known primarily for releasing jazz music, it was a blast...

Why?

The idea for sending music recommendations came from my friends who were looking for new music and didn't want to access my Tidal playlists to find it but loved when someone picked that music for them. All music platforms nowadays offer music recommendations, but it's not always what we're looking for. Sometimes we would like to explore new genres or different eras of music. We don't necessarily want to dig through thousands of playlists to find the ones that match our taste or mood and that's why I'm doing curated music selection for you.

Should you subscribe?

According to new data (source) there's approximately 120 000 new songs released daily on streaming platforms. It's hard to keep track of all the new music, we all have other things to do, so I'm here to ease the FOMO and make it as seamless as possible. You can of course trust the algorithm and get new music based on the things you already like, but I've a feeling that human touch is something else.

About me

I come from a musical family. We all play or learned to play an instrument (for me it was piano and saxophone) and every Christmas we gather for family caroling by a fireplace, so music was always present and close to my heart. In 2019 I went to my first music festival and became mesmerized by the power of musical storytelling. This experience was an inspiration to learn how to dj, because I also wanted to take people on those musical adventures full of emotions. About a year later my friend Malwina came to me with an idea of playing a set to a guided breathing meditation called Psychedelic Breath . It's been three years since and we've done events for Spotify in London, TikTok in Warsaw, many breathing sessions working together as a collective with some of our friends.

You can listen to some of the music I play below

What should you expect?

Every Monday you'll receive a newsletter with eleven hand picked tracks and a Spotify playlist for easier listening experience.

Using Tidal Sharing Service, operated by feature.fm, you'll get a link to a song for most known platforms (screenshot below).

Sometimes if a song is not available for streaming I will include a link to Bandcamp or Beatport, where you can support artists directly buying their music.

Service to listen to the track on different streaming platforms

With every post there will be also link to a private playlist on Spotify, this way you'll be able to listen to all the tracks (if available on Spotify) on the go.

Playlist invitation on Spotify

Among other things, there is and will be some free content added to the site in form of public playlists, artist profiles and sets which I find valuable.

I hope you'll enjoy this journey.

Love,
Kuba
